FAQs
-
How long before the class date do I need to have the consultation? There needs to be at least two weeks between the consultation (class planning call) and the requested class start date.
-
How do I sign up for a class? You can pick from a package or a custom class. For a package, pick the series of classes that you are excited to learn about on the ‘Packages' page. As part of your purchase you schedule a consultation (no additional cost), for you and the instructor to decide your start date and details about the location and what is expected leading up to the class. For a custom class go through the sign up steps on the ‘Private and Custom Class' page. Register for a free consultation to create your customized class!
-
Why do I need a consultation for a package I have purchased? This is when we discuss possible dates to schedule the classes for your series, the details of the location (your space or public space chosen by you), and go over class policies. It is an integral part of setting up your class series, so that you have the best experience with us.
-
Why do I need a consultation for a custom class? This is when we curate your class together! This is the time to get any questions answered about the class(es), the process, it’s also the time to discuss and pick the recipes or series of recipes that will be used in each class. We come with a list of ideas and suggestions. We also discuss possible dates to schedule the class(es), location, and class policies.
-
How old do you have to be to take a class? We’re excited to support students of all ages on their culinary journey! We typically welcome little chefs starting at 5 or 6 years old and teach all the way through to adults of any age. For requested group classes, we usually break participants into age ranges—5-11y/o, 12-17 y/o (18 if still in highschool), and adults—but we also offer private family classes where everyone can join in, as long as the youngest participant is at least 5 years old. No matter your age, we're here to help you explore, learn, and have fun in the kitchen!
-
How long does a class run?A typical one-time class usually lasts around 3-4 hours, depending on the number of recipes or courses you'd like to explore. For a class series, each session generally runs between 1.5 to 2.5 hours, though baking classes tend to be a bit longer due to the extra time needed for prep and cooking. We always ensure there's plenty of time to learn, cook, and enjoy the experience!

Why do you require a deposit?A deposit is required to cover the planning and preparation involved in customizing your class(es) to fit your needs, as well as the initial cost of ingredients. It helps ensure that we have everything ready for you, from the details of the class to sourcing the ingredients, so you can have the best experience possible. The deposit secures your spot in the schedule and allows us to begin the process of crafting your personalized cooking session.
-
Is the deposit refundable? The deposit is not refundable, but it will go toward the total cost of your class. It covers planning, ingredient costs, and any late menu changes. If you need to cancel or reschedule, the deposit helps cover any accrued costs as outlined in our cancellation and rescheduling policy. Please refer to our policy for specific details regarding refunds and rescheduling options.

How much does a class cost? The cost of a class varies depending on whether you choose one of our pre-set packages or a custom class. For one person in a 3 class series as low as $400 per package up to $917 for a 3 part package with 10 people in the classes. The payment for the full package is made ahead, at the time of booking the initial 30 minute Zoom call to place your class in the calendar. For custom classes, pricing is determined by our hourly rate of $75/hr, along with a price per plate that can range from $20 to $80, depending on the menu you choose. We also require a deposit to secure your spot, which helps with planning and allows flexibility for changes or cancellations. We’re happy to discuss the details and provide a tailored quote during your consultation! Check out examples in our PDF below!

What do I need to purchase or have for the in-home class? For your in-home class, you’re not required to purchase anything extra. If you feel the need to buy any tools that you don’t already have, you’re welcome to do so, but it’s completely optional. We’ll work with the tools you have and supplement anything needed. Based on our discussion before the class date, we’ll know exactly what tools to supplement for the class. Additionally, please ensure that all tools are washed and ready before we arrive, and that there is open counter space available for preparation at the start of class. The goal is to make the experience enjoyable without any extra pressure on purchasing items! Please check out our Use of Services PDF for additional information:
-
What do I need to do to prepare for a class in my home or space? After our meeting, you’ll receive an email with a list of tools that may be needed for your class. This list serves as a guideline, and you won’t need to purchase any new items you don’t already have—we’ll supplement any missing tools based on our follow-up conversation. We do ask that students provide basic ingredients like salt, pepper, and cooking oils. Additionally, please ensure that all tools are washed and ready before we arrive, and that there is open counter space available for preparation at the start of class. This helps us get started smoothly and make the most of our time together! Please check out our Use of Services PDF for additional information:
-
What is appropriate attire for the cooking class? We find that the best attire is the kind that will be safe in a kitchen setting. This usually means closed toe shoes, long hair tied back, and no long dangling jewelry that can get caught. Using an apron is also suggested to prevent stains to clothing and as an added layer between you and possible hot foods, etc. We understand that some house rules may differ as far as shoes on in the house. In this case, closed toe slippers will work as well. Please check out our Use of Services PDF for additional information:
-
What is covered in the purchase of a class? The purchase of a class includes exclusive, one-on-one time with the chef in an intimate setting, ensuring personalized attention throughout the session. It covers the cost of ingredients per plate, so everything you need to cook is provided. Additionally, you’ll receive a workbook with recipes and supplemental information to help you continue learning and practicing after the class.
-
Can you change some of the recipes or ingredients used in the package classes? While we typically stick to the seasonal menu selected for each package to maintain the integrity and flow of the class, we understand that dietary restrictions or preferences may require some adjustments. Currently, any changes to the menu will transform the package into a custom class series, which will involve an additional customization charge. We’re happy to accommodate these requests, and for those with dietary needs. Additionally, we will be offering dietary versions of some of our packages soon, so stay tuned!
-
Is there a set menu for each class?/What will I be cooking? For our package classes, we have pre-set menus that may change seasonally to keep things fresh and exciting. While we typically stick to the seasonal menu to maintain the integrity and flow of the class, we understand that dietary restrictions or preferences may require some adjustments. If you'd like to make any changes, please let us know in advance, and we’ll be happy to accommodate them. However, making adjustments will transform the package into a custom class series, which involves a small customization charge. For custom classes, the menu is created during your consultation based on the details in your registration questionnaire, with plenty of support from us to help you make the best choices. The menu for custom classes is completely up to you! We’re here to support your culinary journey every step of the way!
-
Can I give a class as a gift?Yes, you can absolutely give a cooking class as a gift! You can pay for a package in full, or if you'd like to contribute a custom amount towards a package or a custom class, we can accommodate that with a special request. We’ll need to have a conversation about the pricing for any custom classes you’d like to gift, and we’ll ensure the balance is paid in full before scheduling the class with the recipient. We’re happy to help you create a thoughtful and personalized experience for your loved one!
